The Dons captured back-to-back championships in 1955 and 1956, with Russell earning NCAA Tournament Most Outstanding Player honors in 1955. He was also a two-time Consensus First-Team All-American. Today, his iconic No. 6 jersey hangs proudly inside War Memorial Gymnasium.
